The 2015 Code Conforming Wood Design (CCWD), a joint publication of the American Wood Council (AWC) and the International Code Council (ICC), is now available

The document summarizes provisions related to the use of wood and wood products as they appear in the 2015 International Building Code (IBC). Easy-to-use tables are provided in CCWD for determining maximum building size for eight common occupancy groups using the newly formatted height and area tables of the 2015 IBC.

The document also addresses methods for establishing fire resistance of wood assemblies and heavy timber; special provisions for pedestal buildings; criteria for finishes, appendages, and other wood features; the scoping of referenced wood design standards; an overview of structural provisions; and requirements for precautions during construction.

The free download, along with 2012 and 2009 versions, is available here.

To date, only wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council qualifies for a point in the LEED, while other organizations, such as the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, the Canadian Standards Association, and the American Tree Farm System, are excluded.
