Colors are a universal language that everyone understands, speaking to both hearts and minds. Collectively as a society, we help create color trends, which shape our businesses, recreational facilities, healthcare centers, and civic buildings. These iconic colors are now appearing in Valspar's new color collections.Â
The new exterior color collections are based on three trends:
• Adaptive reuse drives need for historical colors. These colors include fearless and historical colors that embrace history with weatherworn and repurposed textures. Familiar colors are blended and stretched, bringing copper and silver tones and charred colors to the forefront. This parallels the architectural trend of adaptive reuse, which repurposes existing buildings for modern applications. Instead of leaving the past in the past, embrace and highlight unique elements—and embrace modernity.Â
• The old-world color palette regains popularity. Colors that spanned 16th- and 17th-century Europe are now being represented in new ways. Deep reds, rich greens, subtle pale blues, and bright golds—all colors that are slightly muted. These tones highlight cultural differences through a celebration of color.
• Aquatic colors arrive on the scene. Inspired by the precious resource of water, these colors are appearing both in the built environment and even the fashion world. Deep sea blue and pale turquoise, complimented by earthen tones, including brick red and gentle olive. Â
Current commercial trends bring back colors from the past with a modern context and eye. They embrace the past, while moving boldly into the future.Â
