Lakeside Branch Library breaks ground

HED and PCL Construction are designing and building the project.

HED, PCL Construction, and the County of San Diego have broken ground on the new 16,800-sf Lakeside Branch Library in Lakeside, Calif. The library is designed to meet Zero Net Energy building standards.

The project features enhanced program elements that include a 2,000-sf community room that can be used for classes, library activities, and meeting space for local organizations and businesses; designated spaces for all age groups; state-of-the-art technology, and an outdoor reading area.

The Lakeside Branch Library is seeking LEED Gold certification and a lIving Building Challenge Zero Net Energy petal certification. It is slated to open to the public in the summer of 2022.
