The planning commission of the United Kingdom’s capital just approved 22 Bishopgate, which Curbed reports is a 62-story tower designed by Karen Cook at PLP Architecture.
Scheduled to start construction next year and open in 2019, the structure will be London’s second tallest, after the 95-story Shard—that is, if no other taller tower wins approval and commences construction in what has been described as London’s race skyward.
The project’s site will be among the cluster of towers in London’s financial district, part of the ancient city’s vertical boom.
