The 12-floor, 131-foot-tall Casa Atlantica, a high-rise defined by its curvy features and its spine-shaped façade, will be Zaha Hadid Architects’ first project in South America.
The residential building is planned for Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Gizmag reports that the building will have open sea views and a rooftop pool.
"Casa Atlantica's design continues the liberating formal composition and spatial flow inherent within Brazil's rich Modernist tradition," said Zaha Hadid in a statement. "It engages with the unique tempo and vitality of Copacabana's urban beach culture, as well as the fluidity of its renowned Burle Marx promenade."
Arup is involved in the project, aiding with structural, mechanical, and engineering.
