Rubber flooring ready for traffic at Calgary airport

More than 400,000 sf of norament grano and noraplan sentica cover portions of the international terminal and Connections Corridor.

By David Barista, Editorial Director | November 6, 2017

For its $2 billion expansion of the YYC Calgary International Airport, the Calgary Airport Authority had several objectives: increased comfort and cleanliness for travelers, clear wayfinding, and lower maintenance costs.

Rubber flooring solutions from nora systems helped the project team meet all three goals. More than 400,000 sf of norament grano and noraplan sentica cover portions of the international terminal and Connections Corridor. The flooring is softer than granite and porcelain tile, and can withstand wear that results from rolling luggage and carts, food and beverage spills, and the impact of tracked-in snow, mud, and ice-melt products.

The design team blended various patterns and colors to create a variety of floor designs to support wayfinding efforts and add visual interest to the longer corridors.
