It doesn’t take long for the walls of a high-traffic commercial space to go from freshly painted to having the appearance of a runway at O’Hare International Airport. Benjamin Moore is hoping to rectify that situation with its new Ultra Spec SCUFF-X paint, a first-of-its-kind, one-component interior latex paint engineered specifically to resist scuff marks in high-traffic commercial environments.

SCUFF-X provides the level of scuff-resistance of two-component coatings without the strong odor, pre-mixing, short pot life, and application difficulties commonly associated with similar products, according to the maker. The paint is recommended for such areas as hallways, stairwells, lobbies, offices, gymnasiums, locker rooms, public restrooms, and retail fitting rooms. SCUFF-X comes in one- and five-gallon pails in more than 3,500 Benjamin Moore colors. Matte, eggshell, and satin finishes are available.
