Luxury Action, a private travel company, is behind the project.

The North Pole is not the most hospitable place on the planet, but that isn’t stopping Luxury Action, a private travel company, from wanting you to take your next vacation there. The company has unveiled plans to create the northernmost hotel in the world out of a series of movable, heated glass igloos.

The igloos have been tested in extreme arctic weather conditions and all contain their own toilet, bed, and a glass ceiling and wall to connect with the surrounding landscape and experience the Northern Lights. Guests would arrive at the North Pole Igloo Hotel ( which includes a camp manager, an arctic wilderness guide, a chef, and security) via helicopter.

The peripatetic igloos would only be located at the North Pole on request in April, the only month suitable for guests to safely travel to the location. For the other 11 months, the igloos would be moved to a glacier in Svalbard, an archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole.

Two notable 3D-printed projects mark milestones in the new construction technique of “printing” structures with specialized concrete. In Athens, Tennessee, Walmart hired Alquist 3D to build a 20-foot-high store expansion, one of the largest freestanding 3D-printed commercial concrete structures in the U.S. In Marfa, Texas, the world’s first 3D-printed hotel is under construction at an existing hotel and campground site.
